080. You don’t need to be an asshole to be a boss.

Somehow, we’ve been taught that being a jerk is how we as creatives get things done. That the people around us are inspired by how irritated we can become with them and our work. Our anger has become a badge of honor. This is an unhealthy trait that we, collectively, have developed and hide it behind the vail of “passion for the craft”. There’s a difference between assertiveness vs. being an asshole. And if you want lasting relationships, its best we all fight the feeling of “passion”. Be more patient with others and yourself. Be quick to listen and slow to speak. Practice thinking rationally. You’ll be surprised how far being the good guy can take you.
